Summer News:

ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUPS

This summer I am offering English Conversation Groups in Bristol, UK, for learners from other countries.

If you read these webpages, you will notice that I am normally charging a lot more for teaching and coaching. I am enacting this idea because it excites me, as I have many Spanish friends in Bristol and Spain, while also having friends from many other countries.

You’ll find all the details at http://www.facebook.com/acanofwords. I will post there when I know when and where the first group will be. I’ll post in some Bristol Facebook groups, too.

Get it Write! Free Bristol event, September 18th:

Exploring language as music, you will learn to write clear, correct English for promotional purposes. We will disrupt habitually misleading usage! Participants will learn concision, and will work through some tight linguistic corners.

The workshop will take place from 6-7.30 p.m. at the Better Food Company, Sevier Street, St. Werburghs, Bristol BS2. Ffi: http://www.freeskilling.org.uk/.

Come along if you can make it; it’ll be great to see you.

Translations are also available from French, Spanish and German into perfect English.

About me and my work:

I’m Lawrence Pettener, M.A., and I am a professional writer and editor working in Bristol, with two colleagues available for when I get busy.  I am a visiting professor at Bristol UWE (University of the West of England).

I have worked as a professional proofreader in the publishing industry, and I can guarantee quick turnaround times. I have proof-read poetry collections for Bristol’s Poetry Can (www.poetrycan.co.uk), and helped several novelists and others with their books. Websites are a mainstay.

Among other projects, I have copy-edited the English edition of a great guide to Berlin by Yuba Editions: http://www.berlin-hidden-places.de/and have been working on website copy, including that of this road haulage firm: http://www.hgvdriversguide.com/.

If you’re starting a business, or you know somebody who is, there’s a good chance I can come up with that killer name for it. For example, A Zen centre in a certain southern French city could do worse than naming itself Nothing Toulouse.

There’s nothing lost by emailing me your business’s remit (what it will do or sell) and the name of the town, city or area you intend to open it in – try me! More details about this are on the Copywriting page.

You can send enquiries to info@acanofwords.eu, where you can also send text to be worked on.

Please click one of the tabs along the top of the page, or on the Contents List (above).
